Answer the question! It may sound basic, but it can be easy to go off track if you’ve had lots of achievements you want to include. While these are something to be proud of, judges can only score you on how well you’ve answered the actual question so may discount other points you’ve made.
Use statistics! It’s all well and good to say you’ve ‘increased your patient numbers this year’ but your competitors probably have too. Make it easy for judges to compare by providing figures – you don’t have to reveal actual numbers, percentage improvements will get your point across well enough.
Proofread! A badly written entry can really distract and put off judges, even if the points you make are good. Come back the next day or ask a friend or colleague to read over your entry before submitting. Consider; does it flow well with enough punctuation? Would bullet points or subheadings make it easier to read? Are your spellings correct?
Share your achievements
If you’re lucky enough to become an awards finalist, don’t forget to shout about it! Use the marketing material provided to tell your audience that you’ve been recognised and what this means to them – think reliability, excellent results, safety!
